In the past, we have been fortunate to have the apple pulp from the cider press at the Bousfield’s organic orchard in Milton to feed our pigs.
Well I’m thrilled to say we now also feed a selection of locally grown and processed hemp byproducts to the piggies and chickens too!!!
And I’m still picking up pulp when I can.
Yes you heard me.
No more Soy.
No more corn.
No gmos.
Organic apple pulp? YES
local pesticide free hemp full of omegas? YES
gmo free wheat and oat ration with minerals and enzymes? YES
Boy do these animals have it good.
I’m really excited about these changes and I hope you are too. I’m sure we’ll have to tweak the feeding plan as we go but this is a wonderful improvement and a great step towards achieving the farming system we dream of here on our farm.
I’m sure you all will let me know, but anyone I’ve asked has said that the meat will taste great, as will the eggs and it’s great for overall animal health too.
